I am, by nature, an organized lady. Not by DNA but by the fact that I was born in a single-wide mobile home and then spent many years of my adult life living in same. Anyone who has lived in a single-wide mobile home knows that you learn very quickly how to maximize the use of that 10 foot by 50 foot space, least you feel like a human sardine.
Well, I organized my art studio and then left my very capable assistant, Copper, in charge while I was gone. What I returned to was a disaster of epic proportions as my dear employee decided to have a party while I was gone. THIS is what I returned home to:
Copper hung over from the night before Crazy insane amounts of unorganized bins that have taken over our guest bed. |
Copper and her mannikin friends must have had a real good time at my expense as the liquor cabinet was left bone dry.....and my art studio resembled a war zone.

I now have a new rule when I am out of town. NO house guests for Copper!!!!
haha I still want to see the video you made but can't find it.
ReplyDeleteIt's on my facebook under Dr Brassy Steamington.
DeleteThanks for the laugh! Ah, but isn't it when you're sorting out piles of stuff like this that you suddenly see *this* next to *that* and an amazing new creation is born?!
ReplyDeleteToo neat! My workshop is REALLY messy. I have to keep it in one room or it reproduces and crawls out the door! In response to your question and comment Dr. Brassy, I agree, it is the messiest! :) and yes Eliot has glue on caps on his front claws. He hates having me put them on him, but he keeps snagging my pants for work and I don't need that any more. Thanks for looking!
ReplyDelete@ Sally-Ann. Yes it is! @ Beetique. I will attempt to put a link to that video here, somewhere....really. *Face Palm*
ReplyDeleteLove it!! haha! My bed looks like that many times with all of those bins :)
ReplyDeleteI love the big chair work area. I would get a lot more done in a place like that.
ReplyDeleteI worked in the living room in that chair for two years before I got my own room that I lovingly call the Dungeon.
DeleteHello Brassy- I am a-hoppin da blogs :). Am, early in the day as on Uk time. Your workshop is TOO neat !! Although I concede that the messy bed is a step in the right direction. ~waves~ I am hopping away .... from Linzi of www.magpieintheskyspoilheaptales.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGotta love that drunken Copper. I need me a drunken mannequin head, I always say, what makes your workspace are your mascots and your memorabilia. Copper reminds me of that song, Brandy, you're a fine girl! LOL Can't wait to see you in California on the 16th of June! Wish I could come to your house and work on a project together. Maybe someday! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhere are the photos of the kitties? I was hoping that there were some photos with the cats in it.
ReplyDeletePosted!
DeleteToo fun! Love your post! Hope to see that video soon! I agree, every workshop has a cat somewhere....they help us to stay messy! (Like we need any help....)
ReplyDelete@ Jennifer. I added photos of Delilah and Farallon, just for you! ` Dr Brassy
ReplyDeleteYou have such a light filled space, so different from my dark dungeon.
ReplyDeleteI would trade you in a heartbeat. I have Lupus and can't be in the sun. Sun is bad for Dr Brassy.
DeleteWay cool before and after both. Love your mascot.
ReplyDeleteSo THAT is where my skeleton went......to Copper's drunken bash! I was wondering. Love your mascot! Cool studio. Admire your work tremendously. I've loved steampunk for the past couple of years, but never dared to attempt any steampunk jewelry until last week. You are in inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAwe...thank you.
DeleteSometimes I just love cleaning up -- I find the coolest things! Thanks for sharing the before and after!
ReplyDeleteI had a blast touring your blog Brassy! Thanks for the laugh. I needed that today.
ReplyDeletelove it!, and the cats are the cutest!
ReplyDeleteThat Copper is a naughty girl - think she's been spending time with my girls, Natasha and Bev! Love your studio!
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it but yes, that Copper gets around...
DeleteHmmmm... It sounds like mannikins and minions have a lot in common! Loved seeing both versions of your work shop! :) Am a HUGE fan of your work too! Warmly, Tracy
ReplyDeleteMannikins, minions, submissives...you say potAto, I say potato. ha ha ha
DeleteSuch a fun tour! I have the cats covered (I am owned by five of them) but I definitely need a mannequin for shenanigans!
ReplyDeletelol Fabulous tour :) And I love von shtubby butt ;) He's adorable.. and no doubt helps with the mess :)
ReplyDeleteHe is Von Shtubby butt after 4 inches of tail got cut off in an accident.
ReplyDeleteThis blog made me laugh out loud! Can't wait to see your updated video as well. Thanks for sharing your "mess"....which to me is very organized. Keep that mannequin in check ; )
ReplyDeleteActually I like Copper's organizational skills. But then again I understand about those single wides. Love all of your creations. You are my inspiration so thank loads. Gerry
ReplyDeleteWhew... that Copper is a trouble maker! I have some of those hardward organizers. One is in my bed room and is supposed to have my jewelry in it hahhahhahhahah..the other one is down near my lower level studio and I need to get it out and put some stuff in it that needs to live down by the fire pit
ReplyDeleteI was worried by that first photo. Way too clean!! But the guest bedroom, now that is our style! And your two cats. Senior cat hidden away behine a panel, young rival lording it on the sofa! I love it. It reminds me of my lovely old grandma kitty who ruled our roost till she passed. I still miss her and I have a tear in my eye as I type!!
ReplyDeleteLoving your mess and your sense of humor! Your Cats are absolutely Adorable!!! =) Loved taking the tour of your space!!! Now, that that's done... Can I plop down in your big comfy chair for awhile?!?! LOL I just love a big comfy chair! =) Thanks again for letting us visit! =) Oh, and maybe next time you go out, you should get Copper a babysitter! LOL ;)
ReplyDeleteThat was such fun! Looks like Copper and her friends really had a great time. Thanks so much for sharing.

ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I grew up in a 10 x 50 mobile home, too...we had a family of 6, including my grandmother there with us!! Yes, it does teach you to maximize small spaces!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Copper is a naughty girl! It looks as if she knows how to have a fabulous time though ;). I am so impressed with your work spaces and your post, you are so creative and funny! And I liked seeing your after pics as well. You are an inspiration to me and that is for sure! :)
